Situated in the Belleview Shopping Center, the restaurant offers a daily lunch buffet, catering services, and a full bar, providing a welcoming environment for both families and local diners.

Dishes of India is located in Belleview Shopping Center, centrally located between Old Town Alexandria and Mount Vernon off the GW Parkway. We have a full bar with a curated list of beer and wine by the glass/bottle. Enjoy plenty of free parking. We love children, and they love us! We are located on the lower level, so please note, we do not have wheelchair accessibility. All major credit cards accepted.

Paneer Karahi
A traditional north-western dish. Chunks of fresh cottage cheese cooked over very low heat with fresh tomato, onion and green peppers, in flavorful thick curry sauce.
Tandoori Wings
Chicken wings marinated in flavorful spices and roasted in special oven, tandoor.
Daal Tadka
Yellow lentil cooked with flavorful spices and tempered with roasted cumin seed in Ghee.
OUR STORY
Dishes of India originally opened June 17, 1997. Chef Ramanand Bhatt begin cooking at 16 years old in New Delhi, India at a roadside café. From the beginning of his career his desire was to open up his own place. At age 25 he traveled to Spain, where he worked at a prestigious Indian restaurant for five years. Returning to India, he worked for Air India flight kitchens as an assistant chef for15 years. In 1981 he came to USA, continuing to fine-tune his skills, plan and save to eventually open his own restaurant in 1997.
In 2003 Dishes of India was destroyed by Hurricane Isabell. It took about one year to renovate the restaurant and reopen. There were a LOT of hurdles, so many, at one point, Chef Bhatt second guessed whether they should open or not, but only for a moment, his determination and passion kept his focus on his dream. However, it was through a lot of help from locals and loyal guests that it was made possible to restore Dishes of India and open for business once again.
A FAMILY RUN BUSINESS
Mr Bhatt has 2 of his 4 sons working with him at the restaurant. Mr Naresh Bhatt looks after the overall operations of the restaurant and Mr. Gopal Bhatt takes cares of the front end. Mr. Bhatt is dedicated in his work and is 100 percent focused on traditional authentic Indian cuisine. He cooks from the heart and takes pleasure in seeing his patrons enjoy their meal. He uses only the freshest ingredients and the best spices. His secret may be that he has received an extraordinary gift of happiness from God which he transfers to his cooking. Many of his patrons call him the master magician for his creations in the kitchen.
